Additional Research Information
Clearing of the overgrowth in the cemetery and investigation of the cleared area by descendants, Allen Morgan and Gerald Morgan, took place during April and May 2004. As a result of their work, 60 additional grave sites have been identified. Many of these graves were marked with fieldstones without inscriptions. No additional tombstones with inscriptions were located. The graveyard has already been designated as a “Cemetery” by the Metro Planning Commission. In July, the descendants sent a copy of their findings to the Davidson County Cemetery Survey. From the investigation by the descendants, it would appear that some of the graves were outside the cemetery area as shown on the Metro plat map. The descendants were asked to report their findings, including measurements with drawings and photographs, to the Metro Planning Commission so that this important data would be included in Metro mapping files. On October 16, 2004, Allen Morgan sent a letter, with attachments, to the Metro Planning Commission.
