New Findings. On January 28, 2005, Donna Lehman, a descendant, of the Gregorys buried in this cemetery, communicated with the Davidson County Cemetery Survey web site. Donna Lehman sent additional information about Edward and Frances Gregory. From her family history records, Edward and Frances Gregory had ten children between 1808 and 1830, and both died in 1842. The original transcript of their death dates from their tombstones had been recorded as “1812.” The number “4” is very difficult to read on old tombstones. In the listing of the tombstone inscriptions given above, the death dates should read “1842.”

Research Information.
On December 1, 2004, Bel Wise, descendant of the Gregory family, sent additional information to the Davidson County Cemetery Survey project. The following account concerns visits made during the 1970s, 1980s and 1990s to study the tombstones, repair the fence and clear the overgrowth at the family cemetery.
“We uncovered two additional tombstones but the inscriptions had worn away. The field stone (visible to Cemetery Survey Volunteers, 1-14-2003) was one that we placed there marking an unmarked grave we found when trying to rebuild the fence in the 1970s and early 1980s. We marked two other graves that were unmarked but those stones had been moved when we visited in the late 1990s. Edward and Fannie (Shelton) Gregory were my great-great-great grandparents. Edward was the son of Joseph Gregory whose stone without inscription is the largest in the cemetery. Joseph died in 1842. There was a footstone between Edward’s and Joseph’s with the initials “E.G.” The placement of the footstone would make it logically Edwin Gregory’s (son of Edward). We did not find the tombstone but there was a grave there. One of the unmarked graves or the tombstone without inscription would be for Jane Vaughn who died in 1849. She was Edward’s sister. Her husband, Ashley Vaughn, who died in 1840-1848, would logically be buried there but we have no record of him.”
