Thomas Cox. Davidson County Will Book S Page 766
Will written August 17, 1830. Will recorded February 24, 1831
In his will, Thomas Cox requested that my son George Melvin Cox and my son-in-law Henry Compton to act as executors, Thomas McCrory as witness. Among the directives in his will, Cox requested putting grave stones over the grave of my wife and also of my own grave with our names and dates. In his will, he listed his six sons and five daughters, including Sally Cox Compton. Sally was the second daughter of Thomas and Rebecca Cox and was married to Henry Compton. To view the Compton tombstone inscriptions, with the dates of Henry and Sally Compton, return to the Cemetery Index and click-on Henry Compton Cemetery.

Davidson County Cemetery surveyors visited the Johnson-Cox-McCrory Cemetery on October 11, 2004. The cemetery was quite overgrown and in a deteriorated condition. Only two tombstone inscriptions could be read. These two tombstone verified that the Old Cemetery on property of Dr. W. A. Bryan , as listed in Mrs. Acklens book, published 1933, is the same cemetery located today near Johnson Chapel. The two inscriptions that were read on October 10, 2004:
Thomas N. Cotton. Feb. 12, 1808 April 3, 1854
John Johnson Tyron County, Ireland March 17, 1734 March 4, 1816
SITE SURVEYED: October 10, 2004
