& Parcel ID system. The cemetery was listed as “Unknown.”
Davidson County Cemetery project surveyors visited the property on May 10, 2005. The property owner was at home. She and her husband had purchased the property in 2001, and found the graveyard on their land. The cemetery is located on the hilltop. On the May 2005 visit, eight fieldstones, without inscriptions, were found in the graveyard.

Research Information:
On May 17, 2005, Hilda H. Barnes, local historian, was called by Fletch Coke about
the cemetery. Hilda H. Barnes then contacted James Early Hagar and learned that this cemetery was a Hays cemetery. His grandmother was Florida Elizabeth (Hays) Hagar. His aunt, Miss Betty Hagar, was raised by the Hays family after her mother died. “Miss Betty,” a school teacher, died in 1887 and was buried at Mt. Olivet. She lived on the property near the Zach T. Hays Cemetery.
James Early Hagar provided the names of those buried in the Zach T. Hays Cemetery.
