Obituary. Nashville Republican Banner
Monday, November 13, 1837
            FATAL ACCIDENT
Mrs. Elizabeth Dunn, the respected lady of
Michael C. Dunn, Esq., of this vicinity, was sudden-
ly killed on Saturday evening, by springing from her
carriage, while the horses were running off.  We
have not been able to learn all the particulars of this
melancholy occurrence, but understand that as the
carriage, containing Mrs. Dunn and her two daugh-
ters, Miss Dunn and Mrs. John Thompson, was re-
turning from town, on the Franklin Turnpike, the
horses took fright, and the two first named ladies at-
tempted to alight from the door.  Miss Dunn was
severely (though we hope not dangerously) injured,
and her mother almost instantly killed.  Her funeral
took place at the residence of her son-in-law, Mr.
            Thompson, last evening.
The deceased was the wife of one of the oldest
and most respectable farmers of this county, and an
exemplary member of the Presbyterian Congrega-
tion of Nashville.  It is seldom fallen to our lot to
record a death so sudden and afflicting.
